Has anyone heard of Herschsprung's Disease?

Question:

Answers:
Hirschsprung’s Disease (HD) is also known as congenital megacolon and as the name implies is a birth defect. It is usually caused by a lack of nerves in a section of the colon, usually the end near the rectum. Because no nerves are controlling this portion of the bowel they do not function properly and they cause an obstruction in the bowel. When this happens the part of the bowel "up-stream" from the obstruction is filled with stool and the bowel expands causing "megacolon."
Often it is seen in patients with a wider array of neural defects.
Chagas' disease is similar but is an aquired disorder caused by a Trypanosoma cruzi infection. T. cruzi is a protozoa usually found in South America. Prenatal infection with T. cruzi can also cause Hirschsprung’s Disease.
