how do i know what birth control is best for me?

Question:
types of birth control

Answers:
I have found that I have had to try a few to find the one that is right for me. I was on the patch, and I didn't like it because it had too many side effects. now I am on a pill called ortho tri-cyclen lo. it is great because the hormone dosages are lower than regular pills, so I have felt more normal on them!
talk to your doctor about methods that you think are right for you. if you don't like it, you can always switch to something else!

Other Answers:
It depends on your needs. If you are looking for efficacy and don't want to "ruin the mood" and you aren't concerned with preventing STDs, a hormone-based one is good ("the pill", orthoevra patch, Depo provera monthly injection). If you are specifically looking for preventing pregnancy AND stds, your best bets are the male or female condoms (don't use them together!). If you don't want hormones and you don't want to "ruin the mood", birth control that you insert in advance would be good ("the sponge" or a diaphragm). There are also foams and jellies but they aren't as effective and have to be applied right before sex. Good luck!
