For the navel ring to be totally healed is 6 MONTHS.
If you notice and green/yellow puss take a war washcloth with some Epsom salt and place on your belly button for a few minutes.
Do this for 4 days and it should stop any infection.
Also try cleaning you belly ring/bar and your piercing ever month for the first year.

I had it done twice, and it never healed. I gave it MONTHS of time, but it still was always red and irritated. I took care of it like I was suposed to but.didn't heel up. I think sometimes they just don't heal. I hope you have better luck.
