what are other options for a endoscopy?
Question:
Answers:
It depends on what endoscopy you are having done? I have had two myself, an upper gastrointestinal and one of my left lung.
All I can say is one minute you are talking to the nurse and the next minute you are waking up and being sent home! There is nothing to it and believe me, if there were, I would tell you.
The gastrointestinal one has some more prep, like numbing your throat, but again, it was a breeze.
I know this doesn't give you any other options like you asked for but I hope it reassures you that it is absolutely painless.
If your doctor is asking that it be done, it is for a good reason.
The drugs they give you are something else. I woke up feeling so peaceful and calm.Good thing I don't know what the drug was.I can see why it would be addictive.
endoscopy - a procedure that uses a small, flexible tube with a light and a camera lens at the end (endoscope) to examine the inside of the digestive tract. Tissue samples from inside the digestive tract may also be taken for examination and testing.
The site that I listed below is another persons account of the procedure. I guess she went on line and made a web site.
Good luck..

An endoscopy is a painless procedure. Most accurate diagnostic tool. There is something called a capsule endoscopy you swallow a small camera and it travels throught your digestive system and looks for problems mostly bleeding in the small bowel. Very expensive, and not usually the first treatment of choice.
none. an endoscopy will show tumors cancerous cells in your lower gi tract plus you get pictures from it and if you have tumors you wont have them after the procedure
I wish you the best of luck God be with you
i had this done in the bowels and oh yes it was OK until they blew air into the bowel well i woke up while the camera was still in and filling it up with air never would i go again
