Dry cough is sometimes caused by excessive dry heat in your home. Put on a vaporizer at night in your room while you sleep. Also if it's real cold out side put a large pot of water on the stove, put the heat on low and let it slowly evaporate. That puts the moisture back in the air. Of course you need to watch the stove to refill the water from time to time and always turn it off when you leave the house or go to bed at night.
