is acetaminophen the same as iboprofin?

Question:
I am taking Mobic for arthritis, is it safe to take iboprofin or acetaminophen?

Answers:
No. Ibuprofen has an anti-inflammatory in it whereas Tylenol and aspirin do not. 800 mg of Ibuprofen is prescription strength and can be taken every 6 - 8 hours as needed for pain. However be very careful when taking Ibuprofen because it can eat away the lining of your stomach.

Other Answers:
noooooooooo they are not the same.

As far as the interaction, check with your doc or pick up a phone and call your pharmacist to find out

Motrin is a pain reliever; used for fever and is an anti inflammatory. Acetaminophen is the ingredient in Tylenol and is for pain and fever. Motrin can cause stomach distress and bleeding.Be sure to take with food.Tylenol can also be dangerous to the kidney's and liver if abused.Tylenol ii the number 1 drug in overdose in the U.S.

no acetaminophen is like tylenol (no aspirin),and ibuprofen is like aspirin which has blood thinning properties

Mobic contains meloxicam. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) will be useless as it does not have an anti-imflamatory effect, but ibuprophen (Motrin) is similar and can be used if necesary, 400 to 600 mg. are usually recomended for arthritis. Always consult with your doctor before changing medications as he needs to be aware of any posible interactions.

I assume that you are taking mobic for Rheumatoid Arthritis and not Osteoarthritis. Tylenol is the drug of choice for osteo arthritis. Mobic can be used for Rheumatoid BUT DO NOT ADD IBUPROFEN to this unless you want to see fresh blood come out your mouth (bleeding ulcers). You can try to add tylenol for this but if this doesn't work your doc could add other meds. Methotrexate usually if you have Rheumatoid.Something stronger if you have osteo.tho you can add tylenol yourself if you have osteo

acetaminophen is generic for tylenol
ibuprofen is generic for advil and motrin
and do talk to your doctor find out which kind of arthritis you do have, and ask him/her about taking any kind of nsaid
nsaid = non-steroidal, anti-inflammitory drug. like asprin, and advil/motrin
