It's not that I think it destroys anything or diminishes my whathaveyou. It's just not for me, just like pink cell phones, chick flicks, 'N Sync, and many other equally legal travesties. I just don't like it. That being said, there is no reasonable cause for marijuana to be illegal.

If you want to grow a naturally-occurring plant in your backyard, harvest it, dry it out, burn it, and inhale the smoke.where is the crime? You can't argue that it's harmful. Cigarettes kill thousands more every year than joints. You can't argue that it's incapacitating. Prohibition of alcohol ended decades ago. So what would the effect of legal marijuana be?

Okay, more people might eat ho-ho's and get "really into" Pink Floyd. More cancer patients would be relieved of the side effects of their chemotherapy. On the flip side, you instantly put every pot dealer in the country out of business. That's a pretty decent victory in the "War on Drugs." Hell, with the money you save on enforcement, you can let the FDA monitor the processing and content of available marijuana.

Moreover, how much does the government make on the sale of cigarettes? How much more could they make by taxing weed? You are talking about turning a law enforcement endeavor that costs this country billions every year into a taxable enterprise that could make millions next year.

I am not arguing that marijuana does not have risks or detremental effects on the human body. Hell, I don't use it myself. What I am saying is that the illegal state of marijuana does more than stick some poor college kid in trouble that he doesn't deserve. It perpetuates an entire market for underworld drug dealers, encouraging smuggling, carrying weapons, and lacing. It wastes tax-payers money on an endeavor that does not effect them in any way, and that most don't care about. AND it soaks up the time and effort of our police, who could be out doing so much more than shining flashlights through fishbowled Toyotas.

So go out and slug down a liter of scotch, smoke twelve packs of cigarettes, and then run down to the pharmacy and grab your narcotic, habit-forming sleeping pills (common side effects include: hair loss, loss of memory and appetite, nausea, stomach, rectal, and esophageal bleeding, nosebleeds and death. Ask your doctor if Fukitol is right for you.) After all, those things are good clean, legal fun. But for God's sake, DON'T spark one. Marijuana kills.

yes, it is no more harmful than drinking alcohol. I honestly beleive all drugs should be legalized and controlled by the government. All drugs would be safer, even heroin if the government regulated it. And the national debt would disappear if these drugs were taxed.

I think it would have a considerable impact on the price, and would kill the drug dealer's economy. It would be a great business for them. On the other hand, it would be available for anyone to buy on Walmart, and it would suck.

Yes, and it will be within the next ten years. Our government loves wars, but this marijuana drug war is becoming very unpopular globably and also because alcohal is so much worse of a drug [and] it's f***ing legal. The AMERICAN government wastes billions of tax dollars prosecuting victimless crimes like drugs&prostitution while child molesters/rapists/murders get (in many cases) less the half of the time drug offenders get on average. Not to mention some of the worlds lowest crime rate societys (Canada/Amsterdam) have legalized or are tolerant of people doing to their bodys what they damwell please. Also ask yourself why the legal drugs are legal anyway..$$$$ funneled into politicions pockets maybe?
