Does anyone know anything about busted blood vessels in the leg?

Question: I had a knot the size of an egg pop up on the side of my leg last night for no apparent reason. The knot turned purple like a bruise and had a red outer ring around it. At first it itched, but then the knot went down and it just feels and looks bruised. My husband says it looks like a busted blood vessel.but I've never had or seen this. Where can I find more info or is this serious? Anyone know anything about this? TIA for any info.

That sounds like varicose veins. I've got a website you can check out. I know that they are 1. painful! 2. able to be fixed by surgery, and some insurance companies will pay, it is medical as well as cosmetic. Good luck to you.

first: why would you let it get to the size of an egg..next time go see your doc; if it broke.still go see a doc..you don't want a portion of it floating in your circulatory system like a clot..
