Answers:
I had Tendonitis off and on since i was 20 and now I am 26. A few years ago I went to see some specialists and they told me they would operate if I kept coming back in. A family member had the full blown carpel tunnel so I asked her what her doctors were saying. Well like 8 years ago she had acupunture and it worked. She no longer has problems with her wrists. It took quite a few treatments but it is better than the results of what surgery can do. Most cases when they operate doesnt always bring the Wrist back to life. So you might check this option out with another doctor or an acupuncture facility.

I was off work for 8 weeks when I had mine done which was 7 yrs ago and I'm fine. Can't help about cost - my insurance paid the whole bill & I don't remember what it was. If you need it get it done - I waited until my whole arm was almost paralized from it and that's why I was off work so long.

my sister just had that done a short time ago. was off work for 6 weeks and she says still is quite painful.

I haven't had the operation..yet, but it is about cutting the nerve. Most people say it helps, but their are other options I would try first.vitamins, change your work habits, etc, once you cut the nerve, you can't go back!

yes, I've had it done in both hands (at different times). I was only off work for about 2 weeks, but no lifting anything with the affected hand for probably 5 or 6 weeks. Yes it fixed the problem for me! Definitely worth it. Get a good surgeon though.
and they don't cut the nerve, they cut tendons to make the path for the nerve bigger so it doesn't get pinched. that's what causes the numbness and pain, is the pinching.

another thing that can help with symptoms is taking 200mg ibuprofen every 6 hours, and also b vitamins. these will help reduce inflammation and help heal the nerve, respectively.

i had it done 6 years ago and its was fine. not overly painful and it depends on what sort of job you do as to when you get back to work. i was back to work in 9 days because i had a good boss who let me do the stuff about the office that i could manage, usually it can take up to 6 weeks. good luck, its worth it.
