Has anyone experienced any odd side effects while taking Effexor?

Question:

I have been on Effexor for a little over a month now, and I am having the worse time with a constant bad taste in my mouth.It started as a baking soda-type taste and now has evolved into a salty taste. My bloodwork is fine and I have told my family doctor about it and he was stymied. I was just curious if anyone experienced any side effects that were not listed as common! It's driving me crazy! LOL LOL

It could be linked to the dry mouth that is a common side-effect of Effexor and a lot of antidepressants. I think a lot of side effects start to subside if you continue to take the medication for awhile. Also, always know that Effexor may or may not be the right drug for you. A lot of meds have side effects, some are better than others, but don't be afraid to talk to your doctor about switching medications if you are really uncomfortable or if the benefits aren't outweighing the side effects.

I have taken it for 2yrs.now with no side effects But If I miss a pill watch out I'm So sick.

I too take Effexor/Venlafaxine,but luckily dont have any really noticeable side effects apart from a dry mouth.
I've been on it for around 2yrs now,starting off on 150mgs daily,I'm down to 75mg now and doing just fine.Hopefully I'll be able to start weaning off soon.

I've been on effexor XR since January and the only real side effect I've had from it is constipation. All I can recommend for the nasty taste in your mouth is constantly chewing gum or eating sugar free mints! And as someone else mentioned above - make sure you don't miss a dose, I did that once and it was terrible, I felt absolutely awful the next day.

I agree it is dry mouth. You should be very carefull about this. Saliva production is vital to the health of your teeth and dry mouth can rot you teeth like nobody's business.

if you miss a does dont double up and be sure that you take it at same time every day

I took it at night then again next morning and had seziures as I had to much in my system

but I am on a high does anyway
