What can acidic drinks(soda Gatorade etc.) do to your stomach?

Question:

Answers:
Nothing. Stomach produces far more potent acid on its own and is protected by it. The drinks are full of calories though.

Other Answers:
nothign unless you drink way to much.

Obcessively usage of Sodas can damage kidneys and stomache lining.

Soda and all carbonated drinks supress the appetite because the gas tricks the stomach into thinking its full. Also they are highly "sugarized" and give a false belief and later dependence for energy.

Gatorade and natural fruit drinks with citric acid are good for you. They have natural sugars which are easier to digest and have more water in them (the life sustaining liquid).

For a better diet, limit soda and high corn syrup drink and look towards water with lemon or fruit concentrates (w/o high frutose corn syrup additives), or gatorade during exercise routines.

Timmy the Tooth says "The best defense against tooth decay is drinking fewer soft drinks". Yea, so remember that and gimme my two points.

if it takes paint off a car.
do you think it's great for the ol' stomach?
All I know is everytime I drink a carbonated drink, my stomach hurts. lol.

best thing to do is not drink too much.

drink good pure water most of the time.

I think the carbonation is probably worse than the acid, I don't know, but I think it could be.

I don't think gatorade is harmful even to an upset stomach. The chemicals in soda can however irritate any tears or orritations in your stomach (like ulcers).

Soda can lead to an ulcer or GERD which is like heartburn, but in your upper stomach. It burns and can cause nausea. Gatorade is better than soda so try to stick to only one pop a day, and drink more water to help stabalize the acid.
