How long will my stool stay black?

Question:
My doctor say I have "Diverticulitis" (colon infection).
I am on a antibiotic.

Answers:
I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse. That's the medical professions answers to everything isn't it, antibiotics. Well let me tell you it is ruining our immune system. That's why we all get colds, flu etc etc, our immune system is becoming to weak to fight off even the minor problems. The reason you get Diverticulitis in the first place is bad eating habits (poor diet) Bits of food get's left behind in the gut wall and go bad which then cause inflammation and an infection., rather like a drain that gets blocked. When you take antibiotics these kill off the friendly bacteria so the whole process starts again = you get another infection = another lot of antibiotics and so on. So you need to use something that will unblock this and that's called LEPICOL. It contains pysillium seeds. These add bulk to your stools and acts like a scourer. It also contains 'friendly' bacteria that help break down your food. We don't have enough of these enzymes in our gut so we must put them back daily. You can get this from your health shop. Drink at least 2 pints of water of day.If you take Garlic (odorless capsules) you are taking the strongest antibiotic in the world and it's natural and it doesn't harm our system, it's very good for you. All my patients are on them every day of the year, it helps to fight off diseases.
Your stools will stay black as long as you are on the antibiotics

Probably until the infection is gone. If you are worried about it, call the dr. that treated you.

My grandma had that for years and she died with out getting rid of it. She didn't die of Diverticulitis she died of congestive heart failure.

The only reason a stool goes black is either from blood present in it ( and very smelly), or from iron tablets ( not smelly).

Diverticulitis causes your bowel to become inflamed and red raw which leads to a little bit of bleeding. This in turn goes black. When things settle, the color will go back to normal. If you see fresh red, then you must return to your doctor immediately. If the black continues for a long time and you start to feel tired, then go get a blood test as your body hasnt recovered strong enough.
