Lasik can be a wonderful event for people suffering from visual impairment. Unfortunately, this operation has become a BUZZ word. I have seen the negative effects of this operation (although I have a hard time beleiving in a 50 year study as it hasnt been around that long) If you choose to do the surgery, remember that all operations come with an assumed risk. also remember that these are the only two eyes you have.ask yourself if it is really worth the risk and then seek out a board certified ophthalmic surgen and consult with him.

Studies has shown to cause blindness in over 50 years later. Do a search for exact details.

I have never heard about the studies that say it causes blindness in 50 years simply because it hasn't been around long enough for there to be long term studies done.

Everyone I know who has had it done are very happy with it, and their vision did improve. However, you have to be very careful with who you choose to do it with, and do your research.

I had Lasik surgery nearly 10 years ago when it was still being studied by the FDA. It cost me $3,000. It was worth every penny and it's much cheaper now. It improved my vision from 20/400 to 20/30 overnight and improved to 20/15 within a few months thereafter.
