Question:

Answers:
No, not in any simple way - and not to only increase your platelet count.

But the levels do rise and fall throughout your life.

Unless you have a clotting disease (and I think if you did your question would have mentioned it) just be happy that you can donate aphaeresis at all. A single is still a wonderful gift of life.

Other Answers:

I'm not sure if there is anything you can do, by way of eating or drinking something. However, platelets are what clots your blood and i do know that there are drugs that can be administered in the hospital to help clot a bleed.
I suggest asking your doctor if there's anything you can do personally. also, they will be able to ask why you need to clot your blood.

There are two parts to this question.Do you really have a low platelet count or do you have problems with a a reported low platelet count because the lab didn't use a platelet protocol (means that you platelets clump (or adhere) to each other making it appear to be low.

Platelets (thrombocytes) are the smallest type of blood cell. They play a major role in blood clotting. When bleeding occurs, the platelets swell, clump together, and form a sticky plug that helps stop the bleeding. If there are too few platelets, uncontrolled bleeding may be a problem. If there are too many platelets, there is a risk of a blood clot forming in a blood vessel. Also, platelets may be involved in hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis).

There are a large number of things that can affect your platelet count everything from an infection or cut to cancer. Please consult a Dr. for further information on this. I only work in a lab and see many patients who have the same conditions. The best thing you can do is consult with you primary physician who would know your whole background.
