Definition: Overgrowth of yeast can affect the skin (yeast rash ), mouth (thrush), digestive tract, esophagus, vagina ( vaginitis ), and other parts of the body. Yeast infections occur most frequently in moist areas of the body. Although Candida albicans and other Candida yeasts are the most frequent offenders, other yeast groups are known to cause illness, primarily in immunocompromised patients. These include Torulopsis, Cryptococcus, Malassezia, and Trichosporon yeasts. Diagnosis is by observation, and can be confirmed by culturing a stool or mucosa sample, or a scraping from the affected area. Treatment is by topical or oral antifungal medications. Acidophilous, a helpful bacteria that normally helps to keep yeast in check, can also be tried in supplement form or in yogurt with live cultures. See also Candida albicans, candidiasis, thrush, yeast vaginitis , yeast rash.

For a vaginal yeast infection, an over-the-counter topical cream or suppository (a pill that dissolves in the vagina) containing miconazole or clotrimazole is typically suggested. If over-the-counter medications are not effective, your doctor may prescribe a cream with terconazole or an oral antifungal drug containing fluconazole.

How Can I Prevent It?

If work keeps your hands in water for long periods, wear rubber gloves. When you're done, wash your hands and apply a mild prescription or over-the-counter antifungal cream.
Wear cotton or silk underclothes, which, unlike nylon and other synthetics, allow excess moisture to evaporate. Wash and dry your underclothes thoroughly; change them often.
Douching or using deodorant feminine hygiene sprays, tampons, sanitary pads or toliet paper can increase your chances of getting a vaginal yeast infection. It may be helpful to eat yogurt in an effort to replenish the good bacteria that help your body combat the overgrowth of yeast.

Vaginal infections can be triggered by dozens of daily things, such as your sexual behavior, hormones (including hormonal contraceptives, changes in menstrual cycle), vaginal blood (from your period, irregular bleeding, etc.), anything inserted into the vagina (diaphragm, tampons, strings from an IUD), or medications (antibiotics, douching agents, antifungal agents, spermicides). Studies have even found that women from different races have different vaginal ecosystems, predisposing some groups of women to more vaginal infections than others.

Hope all that helps!

what is melasma make up?

A yeast infection is where bacteria (yeast) is overproduced in your "ladies area". This can happen if you allow yourself to be exposed to a moist environment for a prolonged amount of time (such as wearing a pad for too long and not airing yourself out). If you aren't on your period, then spend a few hours letting your stuff get some air. Sleep with no underwear or wear boxer shorts or something--it's good for you. You can tell that you have a yeast infection if your "ladies area" is a tad bit itchy or there is funny smelling discharge. If you are worried, just grab a monistat 3-day with the cream (or the pills or whatever. They all work the same) and cure your problem. No biggie, and it can't harm you. Just keep yourself clean and dry, and change your underwear every day.

Can anyone help me sleep?

A yeast infection is a milky sticky discharge that a women gets when there is a minor bacterial infection in the vaginal area. It is not painful but it does cause some discomfort. More itchiness then anything. Your doctor can prescribe a medication that will get rid of it in about 24 hours or you can go to the pharmacy and get an over the counter cream. My suggestion would be to go to your doctor.
Hope this is of some help to you.
Cheers

A yeast infection is caused by a type of fungus. Moniliasis which is cuased by the pathogenic Candida albicans is an infections of the skin or mucous membranes which can occur in the mouth or vagina. Symptoms include burning, itching, and a "cottage cheese-like" vaginal discharge. It's best to consult a doctor in order to get rid of the infection. Any more questions if are quite personal and would rather not post my I/M and e-mail are posted.

How can I avoid stretch marks?

It occurs naturally in the body, and sometimes ther is an abundance of it and it causes itching and burning in the one place you don't want it !
You can get the infection from continuously wearing wet clothing, taking a strong antibiotic, too much heat down below.several ways..sleeping with someone who has it or while you have it is NOT recommended.
See your Dr. to make sure that is what it is and not a STD.
It can be treated with OTC meds.kind of expensive if you ask me but it is well worth it!

Good Luck

IMPORTANT
There are many other infections that can present them selves as a yeast infection (Not all of them are STD either). If you are treated, or take a home treatment, and do not show improvement, or if the infection worsens, or is accompanied by pain, stop treatment immediately and contact your Dr.
If you have frequently reoccurring yeast infections there could be something causing them as well, like diabetes or something else, don't be afraid of talking to your Dr.
