Twice. I was successful on the 2nd attempt thanks to the patch, a prescription to Welbutrin and a whole lot of willpower.

Fourth quit. Been quit for 2 and half months this time. Last time I quit for 4 months. Feel stronger this time. Not sure what the difference is, maybe just the time was right for me.

I quit once for about a week last September and am getting ready to try again. I started smoking again when I started eating everything. This time I going to start working out first so I won't pick up all the weight again! Just start changing your habits (like not smoking the same times everyday-after meals, in the car, etc.) and find something else to do with your hands. The little stress balls seem to help me and you can squish the hel! out of them and they don't mind! I smoke the left & right handed cigarettes so I know what you mean about the beer going right along with them. You've just gotta be stronger than that! I know somone who quit smoking over 35 years ago and says she STILL wants to smoke when she drinks.

I've tried to give up the nasty habit atleast 5 times. Twice I paid to get hipnotized. It worked for about 8 weeks the last time, but gotta tell ya, a drink and cig do go hand in hand. I guess i have to give it all up.

i can understand you i too like to have a drink and i have to have a smoke with it i recently quit too one month ago but i still plan on having a smoke or two when i occasionally go out for a drink

I quit 4 years ago with the patch. A diary was furnished with the patch which helped me keep going. The diary helped me to identify when I wanted a cigaret (first thing in AM, while on computer, after a meal). I bought supplies for 2 months but only part of the first month. I wish you well. This was at least 4th try.

The habitual triggers that make you want to smoke, such as drinking, are usually the most challenging to quit, more so than the actual nicotine. But they are just learned habits you've got into, and habits can be unlearned and replaced with better things. Get plenty of help at this website: http://www.quitguide.com
