I was just diagnosed with very early stage cervical cancer. A cone biopsy was done 4 days ago. It was invasive. The GYN/Oncologist said that I would have to have a radical hysterectomy. He told me to think long and hard about keeping my ovaries or not. He said that I would have to make that decision. I'm 38 years old. The surgery will take place in 8 weeks. I wanted it asap but he said that I needed to heal from the cone biopsy first to make sure there was no swelling. This makes his job easier as he will be cutting near to my bladder, colon, etc.

i am a HUGE fan of adoption and honestly believe that just because you didn't give birth to the child it doesn't mean you aren't their parent. that said, you doctor says the ovaries have to go, take his advice. you may want a second opinion though just to be sure. but if future children are your concern, there are so many kids out there that need homes. giving birth isn't the only way to be a mother and losing your ovaries doesn't make you any less of a woman.

if u want kids you can always adopt. there are pleanty of wanted children out there. otherwise there's no good reason to keep ovaries other than to have babaies. good luck and have a gr8 day

if he takes your ovaries u will go into early menopause. but, taking them will prevent the spread of the cancer and you wont have to worry about anyothet cancer occuring in your reproductuve organs
