Diabetic and have high sugar levels, had for 22 years, need help and support from other diabetics?

I'VE HAD DIABETIES FOR 22 YEARS GOT IT WHEN I WAS 9 YEARS OLD, AND MY SUGAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN HIGH.200 TO 250 IS WERE I LIKE TO KEEP IT. IF IT GETS BELOW THAT I FEEL LIKE IT IS DROPPING REAL LOW, AND I PANIC AND GET SOMETHING TO BRING IT BACK UP. I KNOW THIS IS NOT GOOD, I'VE TRIED TO GET IT TO 150 BUT I FEEL WEAK, NERVOUS AND JITTERY. I'VE BEEN PUT ON LANTUS INSULIN, I KNOW IT'S A FEAR CAUSE I'VE HAD SEIZERS FROM LOWS LIKE 50'S AND 60'S. SO IF THEIR'S ANY SUPPORT OR SOMEONE LIKE ME OUT THEIR PLEASE RESPOND.

Answers:
I know how you feel about lows. I have the same concern; however, I'm managed to keep my blood sugars around 130 - 150 for an ideal instead over 200, though I occasionally spike (still not very good, I know). Over 200 is very much not healthy. You need to monitor your blood sugar and try to maintain a balance between diet and insulin that keeps you closer to normal. Really, talk to your doctor about this.

why do guys get jeal;ous?

You need to readjust your body to accept lower sugars. 200 is too high. Talk to your doctor. I'm on Lantus and Avandia and mine is always around 100-120. If it gets low, then I'm shaky. But just watch what you eat and be consistent. Especially carbs.

home remedy for high blood pressure?

bc your body is used to 200/250, you will need to train it to get used to 100, 90.etc. ask your doctor about the medtronic minimed insulin pump. make sure your NPH insulin is regulated well too. also, do not excercise at any time your sugars are over 250.they will just keep going up

how can i lose weight in a week?

I was recently put on Lantus as well as Humalog. Taking 4 shots a day now. Next month I'll be going on the insulin pump. You really need to see an endocrynologist (sorry for the spelling if it's not right), they can get you closer to "normal" range. I was in that same range until mid January this year. Now I'm in the 80-130 range. I still have a few readings of over 200, but just once in a while and usually if I eat something high in carbs without adjusting the insulin. Your body is use to the 200-250 which is why you feel bad when it gets to the 150 range but this will only cause long term problems if you keep it that high. Please try to get it lower.. for your families and your sake! Good luck

How much does an abortion cost? No insurance.?

I know lows can be frightening (even for those around you) but you have to decide if they are more frightening than blindness, amputation, kidney failure, or heart failure. Just a few of the things that continued high blood sugar can lead to. I know that sounds harsh, but it is not too late and I am so very glad that you have decided to do something now. The best advice I can give you is to test very often until you can work your blood sugar down to where you need it to be to stay healthy. Your fingers will be sore, but your vital organs will thank you.

We need support groups for diabetics and their families, and more comunication about type one diabeties in this country.

why is dawn so paranoid?

First of all, know that you are not alone. I have the same problem sometimes. I have only known of my diabetes for a couple of years now (I'm only 24) and I get the same reaction when my sugar starts to creep toward the normal level. If I am under 300, then I don't freak out. I know that is bad (I know b/c I am a Health Educator with a Diabetes program), but if it goes to around 200, I feel awful.

Once your body is used to having an extremely elevated blood glucose level (over 300) for an extended period of time, the norm might feel terrible. It will take some time to getting used to.

I hope everything works out for you and I hope you can find a balance. I know it's frustrating sometimes, but keep your head up.
