Question:

i know of someone who would like and needs to a psychotherapist/psychologist here in in British Columbia but the thing is, he couldn't afford to pay $100++ per hour to a shrink as he does not earn that much money (minimum wage). does anybody know of a person/organization that could help him? this psych treatment/counselling thing isn't covered by his medical services plans.

Look up Mental Health in your local phone book. This province offers free mental health counsellors and/or psychiatrists if you need them. In my phone book it is in the white pages under Mental Illness Information. They have all the listings of all services available and will refer you to the right one. You can also call your local Crises and Information line and ask them.

No i don't. But if i was one, i would help..you see, some people actually understand that people don't have much money anymore.

just like free clinics for those who need medical attention with no insureance, there's tons of free counseling in every city. check online. he might have to travel a bit and wait in line, but i'm sure it would be worth it.

he needs to find either a college that uses its students in training or find a therapist that has a sliding feel schedule. The person will adjust their fee based on what he can afford. If he is in big trouble he might have to seek out state help.

See if he can find a psych on a sliding scale. I dont how many of those there are now a days. They will go by your income.

I know e-mail addresses that talk to depressed people and I'll give them to you but it's up to you if you want to accept them

P.S none of them charge so don't worry about the income problem
