I believe that your emotional response after having an abortion is dependent on your reasons for having the abortion in the first place.
In my case, I chose to terminate my pregnancy for several reasons. I was told I couldn't conceive naturally, so it was something I was unprepared for. I was living out of state, alone, and away from any support system. Also, starting at 4 weeks, I was so ill that I was unable to function as I had previously, which meant that my work and classes were suffering.
If you go into it feeling like you are making the right decision, then there is a good chance you will not feel regret afterward.
However, if you decide based on what other people think or without thinking it through, you may be setting yourself up for some serious feelings of guilt and heartbreak.

Abortion is life changing for both parties. It can cause great regrets and remorse once it is completed and when it is done it is done. There is a sense of loss and definitely a mourning for what could have been. Even years after having an abortion a person never forgets the emotions they felt during that time, and it will be painful.
Even if it seems like the right thing to do at the time- it is never a good choice.
I would of felt like it was sin and maybe regret, but some women have there reasons.
I thought I would feel relief. I was wrong I feel guilty and angry all the time.. yea I am back to my normal self and doing all the normal things but the pain is always there in my mind
