It is muscle. It weighs more than fat, and allows for more calorie burning. Don't eat fast food and junk and in time, it should come.

You're probably just gaining lean muscle, which is a good thing! Lean muscle speeds up your metabolism! Measure yourself.Im sure you've lost inches!
The only way you could've possibly gained fat is if you have been eating more which, if you're on a diet, I assume you haven't!

I am terrified of slugs; are there any cures?

Dont worrry about it - as long as you know you're eating healthy - seriously healthy - no binging or snacking you should be fine. It's muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat and that's good - cuz when you build muscle the muscle burns fat. Try not to over kill the cardio - if you're doing cardio - go for max 60 mins and no weight training. If you're doing weight traing and cardio on the same day do 20-30 minutes of high intensity training and then weights.

The law of diminishing returns applies to cardio after a certain point - your boddy essentially starts burning the muscle in preference to fat. Take it slow and one step at a time. At least you sound like you're dedicated. You'll see results soon enough - i'm sure you at least feel them already.

what is the 1200 calorie diabeic diet?

This has happened to me before. I thought if I focused on working out and not so much on my eating that I would still lose weight, but what happened was that I ended up being much more hungry and so I would eat more and wouldn't lose anything. You should start counting your caloric intake every day and make sure it's within a range of I'd say 1300-1700 depending on your starting weight. Don't give up. Just watch what you eat. And it's true, muscle does weight more and muscle also burns calories so you want as much muscle as possible.

Any low fat protein foods?

It is true that muscle weighs more than fat. Make sure that you still are dieting, because your calorie intake may be more than the calories you're burning. It is important that your body only have the calories needed to funtion properly, no more than that otherwise you start storing it. You could also have hit a plateau, as fitness trainers say, the time when you don't lose any. But that should not get you discouraged. Check your calorie intake first and see if it is morethan what you're burning. I feel that it maybe the reason. But then again, it may be because you have plateaued. If that is the case, increase your excerise program.
