what is w.p.w?

Question:

Answers:
Wolff Parkinson's White syndrome is where your heart has an extra electrical conduction pathway sometimes causing the ventricles to fire too soon. Some people have this syndrome and don't even know it, because symptoms are never present. Others that do know usually have dizziness, fast heart rate, sometimes sweating as if exercising, and rarely sortness of breathe. This syndrome is usually maitained through medication if needed, and should show up on any ECG (electrocardiogram). From an experienced point of view, this syndrome is fairly rare. In about 3 years of doing ECGs full time I have only seen 2 cases out of about 7000 total ECGs I have done in that time. There is some good information on the American Heart Association website at

wolff-parkinson-white syndrome - heart rhythm abnormality

The above answer is correct, it is recognized on an ecg by a delta wave. After 20 years as a paramedic I have seen it quite a few times, might be the basis for a new question, prevalance of wpw in different parts of the country
