What causes a tumor on the kidney to have dead tissue inside the tumor?
Answers:
Any tumor large enough will start to accumulate dead tissue it it's interior. Why? The reason is simple. In order for a tumor to live it needs blood supply from the host (to provide it with oxygen and nutrients found in the red blood cells and the blood). This process known as angiogenesis occurs by the growth of new blood vessels into the tumor. However, when a tumor gets large enough or when it is disturbed (ie with andti-cancer drugs), then the blood vessels may no longer reach the tumor or parts of it. The tumor then becomes necrotic, especially at it's core.
