The Depo Provera (shot) is something I personally would NOT recommend because it has too many side affects. Some women gain weight, but when I was on it, my cycle was never regular! Instead of 5-7 days, I was on for weeks at a times. You never know when your cycle is coming on when on Depo Pro. It sometimes made me nauseaed and I cramped a lot too. I would not recommend this shot to anyone! If you've had a baby already, talk to your Dr. about Mirena. It's wonderful, but Dr. won't give it to you unless you have at least one baby. Or try the new Neva ring or even Seasonale.

Personally, I've never tried it. I've had friends that have and there have been times that they've had their period for months and there are times that they don't have there period for months. I didn't like that and was too afraid that it would have long term affects.i would like to know is it true that your tubs can come aloose afther 5 years?
I had it. It was horrible, some months i would have a painful period and other months i wouldn't have a period at all i stopped after my second injection. I don't know if it affects everyone in that way but i wouldn't recommend it.Source(s):

I used to be on the Depo shot from age 15 to 17(my moms choice she thought I was having sex) and ages 25 to 27. I am still 27 and the only reason I went off it was my husband had a vascetomy and I no longer need to be on birth control. I loved it the first time around but the second was bad for me. I would do that seasonal one you may have seen it on TV. Its a great choince and its healthy for you instead of missing your period or not having it at all like on Depo it lets you have it 4 times a year and that is healthy for your body to know you will still have it and when you will have it. I hope you talk to your doctor or a close friend about this and good luck finding the right Birthcontrol for you.if you do not want children it works really well i have two kids and have been taking the shots since i had my 5 yr old.nothing else has worked for me but the shot and sometimes you don't have a period but every once in awhile you may have break thru bleeding its normal. i love the shot i only take it every three months and nevr miss an appointment. if you do want kids its not for you
