Is Laser eye surgery worth it? and can I Please get some feedback on the cost?

Question:

I was told by my eye doctor today that I'm a good candidate, He wants $3500.00 for Plano and $4200.00 for custom. My brother had it done in SLC, Ut for $1600.00 I have other friends that have traveled to Canada to have it done for $500.00 and all are very happy with the results. I live in Boise, Idaho I would appreciate opinions from people that have hade it done. Is this Doctor high priced? Thank you!

I can't advise you on price. However, I wouldn't quibble about the money too much - it's your eyes! I considered it more important to complete trust in an experienced lasik surgeon using the most current technology.

I paid about $4500 2 years ago, and it has changed my life. No more damn contacts or glasses - I can see under water, go skiing, wear nice sunglasses, and everything is crystal clear. I now have about 20/15 vision.

If you can afford it and find the right doctor with the greatest and latest equipment, go for it.

That is what the going rate is here in Nebraska. I think that if it is a good doctor, then it is worth it. Some insurance pays for some of it. But just keep shopping around. My bf had it done last year and paid 2500.00 and is very pleased

I don't know about the cost but I do know sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.Your doctor obviously thinks you are a good risk.

Location does have lot to do with the cost but also what is being done. With the custom you should have 20/20 or even better vision. With some others your vision is improved but you might still need glasses for other reading or driving. Also keep in mind your physical activities. If your into boxing, wrestling or bronco riding for example you could be just throwing your money down the road according to some doctors I've talked to..

I shall have ck in ca. I think eye corrections are great but have NOT price shopped for lasiks.

Personally I find that it is expensive… in Quebec it is approximately 1500$ per eye or less
