why do my fingernails have ridges?

My fingernails have ridges and one fingernail in particular just will not grow. If it does grow a little then it breaks off. also why are my nails so soft?

well i think you might need to drink more water cause your nail's might not be getting the vitamins they need try a multivitamin take 1 every day.
