Answers:
Do you need to lose weight? That's the important question. If you really are overweight this is what you should do:
You have to choose a heatlthy lifestyle. Eat right, eat moderately. Incorporate fruits and veggies and cut out the junk. Exercise consistently, not just sporadically--a combination of cardio and strength-training would be best. NEVER take diet pills, they are 100% not good for you.
Good luck. :-)

Exercise is only half of the equation - diet plays a part as well. Monitor what you eat - write it down if you have to. Try this: it's an online food diary. www.fitday.com

For how long did you try this diet?

The remark about not losing weight in gym class is not at all uncommon, because you end up gaining muscle when you excercise. Muscle weighs more than fat so even though you aren't losing weight you are improving your fat/muscle ratio, and eventually would notice a change in your body shape/muscle tone.
A mile is not necessariuly enough. The first questionn is do you really need to lose weight?
However, after school start walking. Not strolling but breaking a sweat. Slowly work up to walking for an average of 1 hour a day 4-5 times a week. If it is safe power walking home from school is a great way to exercise.
Eat sensibly, don't eat food from vending machines in school. Fruits and veggies (fresh are best and fruit roll-ups don't count), whole grains, and a protein source. Try to keep unhealthy fat out of your diet. Keep processed food out of your mouth. And try to eat smaller portions.
losing weight successfully requires both a change in diet and a change in exercise. good Luck
I could run 20 miles a day but if I eat more calories than I burn off or the same then I won't. It is just important to 1. Decide what wait you would be happy with and aim for that 2. MAke sure you know how many calories yourt taking iin and if you belong to a gym or have a friend who works there, asks them, use their expertise and formulate a programme of exercise that will do the job! 3. Be realistic, this isn't gonna happen over night but with determination will work out in the end.
YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR EATING HABITS. AND RUNNING ONE MILE A DAY IS NOT GONNA DO IT. YOU NEED TO STEP UP YOUR ROUTINE AND RUN 3 MILES IN (LESS THAN 45 MIN) TO KEEP YOUR HEART RATE UP IN ORDER TO BURN FAT! EATING HEALTHY FOODS SUCH AS GRILLED CHICKEN, AND FRUITS, AND VEGTABLES WILL ALSO HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT!!
If all avenues have been taking with exercise and the proper diet you may want to get your thyroid checked, also your metabolism has some to do with breaking down foods everyone has a different metabolism

Running tends to lean the body out but you may have also gained muscle which weighs more than fat. Diet is also important so you might want to look at what you're daily intake is like. Keep a journal of what your eating and then make an appointment with your physician and discuss your current diet and exercise routine with him. He/She may be able to make recommendations for you or refer you to a nutritionist.
Also remember that the body will find where it's comfortable at and you may have difficulties going below that weight. Good luck!
I've answered this question before but here I go again! First of all let me say that you need to focus on being fit and helthy and not the number on your scale or your appearance in the mirror. You can't change the way God made you but you can use what He gave you. Running is great for burning fat. If you can already run a mile that's great! How long does it take? You should try running for at least 20 minutes every single day. If you only run for 10 minutes then walk for the other 10 and gradually increase the amount of time you run. Eventually you should work up to 35-45 minutes daily. Make sure you are stretching and do a warm up and cool down. Also, you should do your workout first thing in the morning when you wake up even if it means getting up earlier and going to bed earlier. After your workout your metabolism stays elevated meaning you will burn more calories even when you are sitting in class. For toning and strength I like to do a pilates or yoga workout 2-3 days a week. Whenever you can fit it in is fine. You can find videos at the library to check out for free. Now about what you eat. Don't worry about counting calories. I don't. Just think twice about what you are putting in your mouth. Go for no more than 2 fruits and at least 3 veggies daily. Eat whole wheat bread and pasta and brown rice instead of white. Eat more chicken and fish and less beef. I allow myself beef once a week. I love a good burger as much as anyone else! Drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water daily. Muscle is mostly water so your body is going to need it. Other beverages don't count. Stay away from soda and if you MUST have one make it diet. For calcium drink skim milk and low fat yogurt. Stay away from cheese. It's too high in fat. Other foods to avoid altogether: mayonaise, peanut butter, egg yolks, and ice cream. Don't pay too close attention to the scale although I suggest weighing yourself daily, even twice a day to get familiar with your natural weight fluctuations. You will likely weigh more before bed than you do first thing in the morning and you will weigh more before and during your period than directly following it. You will naturally have gains and losses because muscle weighs more than fat but also burns more calories. As you gain muscle it will make the number on the scale go up but remember it is just more muscle that will burn more fat. You will see it go sdown again. Also you will have times of water retention that will make that number go up as well. Don't sweat it if you see a 5- 10 lb. increase. As long as you are doing everything you are suppose to do you will see the number go down again. I want to stress again, think "fit" not "thin". Strive to be the best you YOU can be! Good luck!

WHAT to eat for losing weight
• Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, especially NC (negative calorie) food.
* Print these lists. They will be your . "Bible", from now on !
* Dill and parsely - include them in all your salads. Also ognion + garlic.
* Try eat mostly fresh vegs & fruits (whenever possible, of course)
* If you really want a book, then check this out: The Negative Calorie Diet Workbook & Cookbook - eBook (Win95/98 only). Read more about this e-book here.
• Eat fish, chicken, beef, pork. (preferences are in this order)
* If you are a vegetarian, then ignore this!
* Avoid fat meat
• Eat 2-3 slices of bread/day. Don't EVER exclude bread from your diet!
• Snacks between meals (if needed): apples, oranges, grepfruits and other NC fruits
* Don't cheat . NO cookies, chips, candies, brownies etc!
* EVEN if they have "low fat" indication. They might have low fat, yet they can have lots of CALORIES !
• About rice, potatoes, beans, [xxx]nuts, pastry, pasta. you know!
* Don't eat too much of those, at least during the first weeks of the diet. I'm not a low carb addict, but I've noticed weight gains if consuming those in large quantities, especially when associated with other foods.
* If you like them a lot, try and eat them like one meal. A nice delicious plate of spaghetti could be your lunch (never dinner!), followed by a nice big apple. These rich starch foods are not good for dinner!
* At dinner time, chose mainly large mixed veggies salads. with fish, lean meat or cheese (if you are not a vegetarian).
if u want to lose weight the best food to it are baked potatoes with nothing on it. no salt no nothing just plain. u can eat a 10000000000 baked potatoes till ur stuff and not gain a pound. i heard that from a weight loss tape. the best drink is water or gatorade. thats a start then when you work out do some taeboo. if u want a macine. run with dumbells on a treadmill. u could do the rocky workout. but thats a new story. u could use a butterfly macine i think it works the abs
1) It is not just the amount you eat, but what you eat. Lean meats and vegtables that snap are a good place to start. And by snap I mean fresh and not boiled or doused with better or whatever.
2) Exercise moderatly but for about an hour every other day. Spend half of that walking or running at a good enough pace for you to feel labored. The other half of the time use weights, or exercises such as push ups or situps to get a muscle "burn". A gym is also an option, but I don't know if you have the money for or want to spend the money on it.
3) Sleep well. To bed earlier and up earlier. Exercise in the morning when you wake up, not in the evening before bed. 7 hours of GOOD sleep is a must.
4) Occupy yourself with a hobby that keeps your attention for a long period of time. A hobby like this keeps your mind focused and gives less of a chance for snacking from boredom.
That is a good place to start. if you see good results, keep it up and modify to fit you. if it does not, see a doctor AND a trainer
Keep working out, drink water a lot, eat 5 to 6 meals a day but in small quantities, vegtables are important specially cucumber and lattice, fruits not be eaten after meals except by 2 to 3 hours, minimize the starch quantities in your meals lots of salad is important, your last meal must be before you sleep by 2 to 3 hours
the most important thing is you don't lose patient wait and have a strong will to be as what you want
you might have some more ideas from www.ivillage.com
good luck
