Theres a lot of money in the medical industry to not cure disease. Theres no money to be gained by healing people.

look at the advances of Tech in the last 10 years, and look at the minimal progress that medical field has made in the last 50 years.

because cloning has promising leads to curing diseases.

you could clone someone a new heart or liver or kidney from their own tissue and not have to worry about rejection.

you could clone someone some new spinal cord and fix paralysis.

there's tons of possibilities.

The lobbying power of the pharmaceutical industry is enormous, coupled with the fact that the Bush family owns the majority of stock in Merck means that cures are not going to be the focus of research. Drug companies make billions of dollars in profit annually, and have their clutches in the American Medical Association. Anybody who has ever seen an M.D. or D.O. has been offered a prescription, and those with insurance get the latest wonder drug for their ailment. There is certainly a conflict of interest in curing anything anymore. As for cloning, that's mostly private industry.
