What excercises add lateral strength to knees?

Question:
I'm looking for weight training and conditioning that can support knees for athletic activity.

Answers:
Being prone to Detractions of teh Patella myself, the only real way to strengthen laterally the knee is to strengthen all leg muscles equally. I have overly strong quads and am very lacking in the hamstring dept. Lunges and lunges done to the side are good. Just remember to always center your movement on the axis your foot is moving. That way yu will not put lateral stress on your knee, but still strengthen those muscles.
