Should I really pay for a personal trainer?

Question:
I've got a cruise planned for November and I want to be the best looking one out of my group of friends. I could stand to lose about 10 pounds and tone up. I've been trying to lose those few pounds on my own for months, but I haven't gotten the results I need.

Answers:
As a fitness professional who has trained many personal trainers on how to be better trainers, I would recommend it. A professional who can teach, encourage and motivate you will enhance your results. If you feel you dont need teaching encouragement or motivation then dont spend your money.

If you do then look for 4 things before choosing a personal trainer. This is what my best clients told me she and her husband did before choosing me. (by the way they pay me $125 a session each so it was a serious investment for them)

1. A professional look - good trainers take their job seriously. They are well kept, and have good hygeine, and they have a good manners to everyone they talk to, not just other clients.

2. How they work with clients - they are 100% focused on their client and they look very organized in the way they arrange their workouts. They demonstrate their exercises and they monitor their clients working out actively, not just hold a clipboard and count. Watch their personality and interaction with their client to make sure they are a good fit.

3. Watch the trainer work out - its the old practice what you preach. Any good trainer works out the same way they train. Also good trainers take their workouts seriously because they know thats how you get results for themselves and their clients.

4. Certifications and Insurance - All good trainers hone their skills by being certified and keeping their certifications up to date. Also if they are independent then they need to have trainers insurance. All of these things pay for themselves in a week so good trainers know its not really expensive to have. The best certifications are NASM CPT and CSCS, or a degree in kinesiology or PE. I have both certifications.

If you want the best results you will pay for them, but if the trainer doesnt meet these 4 requirements then its not worth it.

That is totally up to you but a personal trainer will help. They know the right and wrong ways of doing different things. They can also help with the right and wrong things to put in your body.

No they are a waste of time and money. Have a balanced diet, stop eating fat foods, and to do more exercise. You will lose all those extra pounds.

NEVER, email me at robert.biermann@beale.af.mil and I'll see if I can help!

You don't need a personal trainer if you can do it! Have some confidence in yourself! You haven't looked in the right places yet! Don't pay if you can do it without a personal trainer! A son a husband a sibling they can be your personal trainer, you just sound like you need some encouragement to me! You can do it honest!

Get a trainer. It's what you need to give your system the push it needs if you really want results. In my opinion, you shouldn't worry too much about how you look around your friends. If they are real friends, they aren't comparing. Just my opinion. Go ahead and get a trainer.

I would suggest getting a trainer for maybe only one session, so you can remember the techniques. And also show you can learn what will help slim you down faster. You don't need a trainer unless you really need the motivation.
