Hair cells are fast growing.so many forms of chemotherapy will cause you to lose hair. The cells of the GI tract are also fast-growing, so that could cause nausea, vomitting, ulcers, et cetera.which may (or may not) lead to weight loss.

There's really not much you can do to prevent hair loss during chemo - just ask the doctor for the "track record" of the drugs involved. Some tend to make people lose hair more than others. And, also, all people are different -- so just because one person did, the next may not.

Unfortunately, it's mainly a "wait and see" game.
