Warm substances in plastic bottles?

I boil tap water and let it sit in the pot for a while so it wont melt the bottle. But its still warm when I put the water into the bottles. Is it alright for the warm water to be in the plastic? I heard that the plastic can give off a chemical when warm liquids are put in it. Any Help??

It depends on the temp you are pouring it at. Remember that often the liquids and the bottle they are in are exposed to higher temps from the enviroment. ie sitting outside in the hot sun waiting to be loaded into a truck or store etc. The plastics that come into contact with food must meet some FDA requirements in the US for safety. Why do you not wait for the water to cool more? Is your tap water not safe?

Props to you for taking the time to make sure your water is safe.but be careful about the warm water in the bottles because I heard the same thing too! I would wait until it almost reaches room temp. before putting it in the bottles!
