What effect does exertion have on fasting blood sugar?

DM-II diet controlled with normal a.m. blood sugars around 115 (A1C is 5.8-6.1; my Dr. is considering oral medication).

This weekend I did alot of privacy fence work at home; consequently, today I am *very* sore and very slightly sunburned (pink-ish forearms, pink & slightly tender neck, despite the use of a broad-rim hat and sunscreen). My a.m. sugar was 152/155 (I checked twice).

I'm wondering if my readings are elevated because of some metabolic process going on with healing the muscles or skin?

is pho soup high in cholesterol? my dr. tells me my cholesterol level is up and i eat alot of pho soup?

Answers:
The culprit here could just as easily be sunburn.

I'm doing a very low carb diet right now and got sunburned last weekend. My blood-sugar was 203 after the exposure, but dropped about twelve hours later, and it was a really bad burn. The only carb I had eaten since the night before was a few sticks of celery and I had injected about 20 units of Humulin N that morning.

So I think the sunburn is affecting your blood-sugar, assuming it works the same for both types of diabetics.

Is it un-healthy to have sex with my wife during the first six weeks after a C- section.?

I was recently diagnosed as diabetic, and am on oral medicine once at night. The rest is diet/exercise. I was amazed to learn that if your blood sugar is over 200 mg/dl that when you exercise, you can actually raise your blood sugar. If it is under 200 mg/dl when you begin, then it usually drops. I have found that the book "Change One for Disabetes" and the website of the American Diabetic Association have been the most helpful.
