If the persons diet is low in iodine it causes the pitiutary gland sends a message to the thyroid..then the thyroid gland enlarges to keep up with the pitiutary glands needs. thyroid gland secretes hormones to regulate many metabolic processes. pituitary tells the thyroid to make its hormones. the thyroid can't manufacture its hormones without dietary iodine. so refarming land over and over an not replenishing the soils nutrients causes the low dietary iodine.which cause the body to malfunction..
