Boosting my metabolism..has there been any research indicating how long this can take?

I hear over and over how eating 6 small meals a day, which are nutionally balanced, will kick start your metabolism. I have been taking this approach but am very curious as to any sort of time frame involved.

You have to combine that approach with exercise! The meals have to be balaced too! Each meal should have portion of protein and a portion of carbohydrates with a portion of vegetables added to at least two of your meals. A portion is about the size of your palm. If you combine the approach with exercise it will begin to work immediately! Probably in the first week.

The best way to boost your metabolism is by exercising. I have to question how affective eating 6 small meals a day really is in doing so.

Actively exercising and staying active will increase how much energy you burn while at rest, aka higher metabolism.
