i think i have bipolar, just recently figured this out, have no idea about personality disorder
From the Yahoo depression support room discussions I have learn ed that the bipolar symptoms are depression of the outsiders or loners. They show extremes of sadness and happiness. Personality disorders on the other hand all seem to have come from abuse and not rejection and are keyed to the closeness of the participants. The extremes can be cutting on the one hand and can be suicide on the other.
Bipolar is a mood problem but the borderline personality disorder is a personality problem. They are totally different from each other. And as far as I know, even both of them are chronical, bipolar can be medicated but borderline can't be cured or can be cured very hardly cos curing a personality desease is almost impossible.
I really wish people would stop answering questions about mental health when they obviously know nothing about it. Biploar disorder is characterized by bouts of depression and bouts of mania. Mania can be greatly elevated mood for several days or more. People may feel they do not need to sleep or eat and may start to work on tons of different projects. The problem is . . . they have TONS of energy but are unable to channel it. In very severe cases, the person may experience hallucinations and delusions (usually thinking that they are very important/famous/etc.) Mania can also be bouts of extreme irritability, this is much less common than the elated mood/tons of energy version. Borderline Personality Disorder is deeply ingrained and characterized by instability of interpersonal relationships, self-image, and affect (mood) throughout their lives. It can look like a manic episode because of the impulsivity that is common to both disorders. However, someone with Bipolar would typically only be impulsive during a manic phase. People with Borderline Personality Disorder are impulsive most of the time. They also tend to cling to others but will turn on them, the moment the other person says or does something he/she doesn't like.
