some times the tubercular bacterias may infect the skin as well
Syptoms of TB can range from night sweats, loss of weight, malaise spitting up a lil blood with your sputum. There are a few more, however I want to take a moment to tell you a bit about TB.
TB is a bacteria. It is spread from infected people from their coughing fits or sneezing. The bacteria literally propells out of thier mouths leaving you open to inhale it.
Now, a healthy person can come in contact with a TB infected person and actually inhale some of the bacteria yet not get sick. If you are healthy your body will able to keep the disease at bay. Matter fact a person can have a dormant case of TB for decades until you are weakened enough for signs to show up. During this time of dormancy, you are not infectious. YOu will not be able to pass it on to others for the disease is not active. Its when people have active symptoms that they are infectious.
Another point here, symptoms of TB can mimic a regular cold or flu or a myriad of other lil ailments. Its hard to tell. The best way of protecting yourself is to always make sure when someone around you coughs or sneezes, they are covering their mouths and washing their hands. You can protect yourself by being cautious and removing yourself from the person you feel may be infected.
TB doesnt necessarily infect your lungs, but thats the general area it does. It can infect your brain and spinal cord and just about anywhere in your body. It is highly contagious in its active stage.
Medication for TB are anitbiotics, lots of them. People infected with TB need to take anitbiotics for at least 6 months to be rid of the disease. Some people have taken the medication for a year. You will feel better after a couple weeks of taking the anitbiotics, but do NOT STOP THE MEDS. Stopping a regimen of medication for TB causes the bacteria to get stronger and when you are showing signs of sickness again and have to start your medication over, you will need to take stronger meds for longer. These stronger meds can make you very sick.
TB is nothing to fool around with, outbreaks of it are watched closely by the CDC. If you feel you are infected , go immediately to your local health department and ask for a free TB test. Its a simple prick on the upper arm.
Pleuritic chest pain (pain with breathing along rib cage) and fine crackles occur after coughing. Other associated signs and symptoms can include: night sweats, anorexia, weight loss, fever, malaise (pale looking skin, sunken eyes), dyspnea (difficulty breathing), easy fatigability, mild-to-severe productive cough, and occasional hemoptysis (blood in phlegm).
