In type 2 diabetes, can one go blind gradually or does it happen immediately?

Type 2

Has anyone ever had a problem with hitting their head when it itches? How did you break the habit?

Answers:
My mother is type 2--she did lose her sight for awhile and didn't know it was because of diabetes-she kept going to her eye doctor (who didn't' know she was a diabetic) and kept getting a different prescription for her glasses! When you are a diabetic, it can fluctuate your eye sight as your sugar is up-your eye sight is sensitive to your sugar levels. Both of my parents and grandparents are diabetics, my grandpa is type-1 he still can see! I think your eye sight will go depending on how you take care of yourself-Always make sure that your eye doctor knows that you are a diabetic. Keep taking care of your diabetes it is very serious if you do not take good care of your self!

why do i get all these jolts when i am laying in bed. it scares me it feels like i am falling off a cliff.?

Where can I find information about glyco nutrients distributed by Manitech Corporation?

The eyes of a diabetic are prone to a number of conditions that can lead to blindness, especially if the diabetes is not kept in good control. Cerb921's family experience is not unusual, but there are slow ways to lose your eyesight and also quick ones.like retinal detachment. Bottom line as she said, the diabetic needs to work hard at controlling his/her blood sugars and get regular eye check-ups to catch problems early when they are still treatable.

I am a Type 2 Diabetic. I read a poster at a local diabetes office which contains this info.

I cannot diagonise what my problem is?

Right. Well, if you take care of yourself once you discover that you are diabetic then you won't necessarily need to worry about blindness. Keep in mind that damage may have already been done, depending upon how long you went untreated. But there is no hard and fast answer for this. What you need to do is see an optometrist and have them look at how your eyes are holding up. Then you need to check in with your endocrinologist and maintain a healthy diet.
