Is it necessary to have a vaccination if your child get scratched by a pet cat?

Question:

Answers:
if your child is up to date with their vaccinations the chances are they have had their tetanus injection, which carries them till they are about 4 when they have a pre school booster

Other Answers:
it may not be entirely necessary, but it is, at least, a good precaution.

it depends on whether the cat has been vaccinated. you might want to have a doctor take a look at it just in case. but if it's been a couple days and you don't see any sign of infection, i wouldn't worry.

I think yes, to avoid any likely infection.

Call your child's doctor whenever your child has swollen or painful lymph nodes in any area of the body. Also call if your child has been bitten or scratched by a cat and the wound does not seem to be healing, an area of redness around the wound keeps expanding for several days, or your child develops a fever that lasts for a few days after receiving the scratch or bite.

can get tetanus. should take a tetanus shot

Not necessary, but keep an eye on your child and see if anything develops. Wash the area with anti-bacterial stuff regularly :)
