whats the most surest sighn, symtomps of multiple sclerosis.confi. investigation for multiple sclerosis?

Question:
patient suffering from tremor, difficulty to speech and walking, neck pain.patient taking tablet gabapentine thrice daily, combind tablet vitamin B1,B6,B12.in past history there was a problem in leg(less sensation and difficulty to walking) 1 year back.

Answers:
common signs/symptoms are episodes of DIFFERENT neurologic deficit spaced out over time (ie left body numbness followed by right facial paralysis followed by loss of vision in the left eye). These usually resolve (at least partially) in the initial stages of the disease. The surest diagnostic test is brain and spinal cord MRI which shows lesions in various areas corresponding to the prior episodes in various stages of recovery. CSF will show increased protein (spinal tap), but this is not specific to MS.

Other Answers:
An MRI is not a sure fire way of diagnosing MS. It, COMBINED with a positive CSF reading is the way I was diagnosed. That is, after they ran every test under the sun to make sure it wasn't anything else. Usually the first sign is vision problems. After that it could be anything from numbness to tremor, vertigo to paralysis.
