My mom has a stomach pproblem that has to do with digestion as well as the intestines. Please Help me!?

Question:
My mom says her stomach hurts really bad, it gives her gas from both sides (if you will). When she eats, during diegestion, her intestines start to hurt (not a piercing pain). her doc says all she has to do is take gas-x but that never helps. She takes stomach medicines but nothing. DOES ANYONE THINK THEY CAN HELP MY MOM.

Answers:
I'm assuming her doctor doesn't think it is a major problem since she or he told her to take gas-x. Some great things that help me with general tummy troubles are yogurt (not the diet kind), mint tea and camomile tea. She should also start keeping a journal of what she eats and see if there is a problem with certain foods. If it is just painful gas (and nothing else) there are some foods she should stay away from:

Edit: You mentioned that it hurts "when she eats". Does the pain start when she is eating or after? If after, how long? She needs to pinpoint the time it starts.

Other Answers:
Your mom needs to go to a GI doc for a second opinion. She should ask about testing with an upper GI or an EGD. She should also ask about a barium enema or colonoscopy. If this is an ongoing problem, she needs to find out what is causing it.

Has she tried reglan ? It helps with digestion.Sounds like she may have IBS. I take Prilosec 40mg a day and It helps.

Yeah I agree with the first answer you got. She needs some GI examination. Or maybe she just has an ulcer!
Try some over the counter Tagamet or try some ginger tablets they help alot with stomach problems. If that doesn't help. She needs to see a specialist. Maybe she has a tumor or a hietal hernia.
