ok 1 things
1) your description was really gross
2) you should probably tell her to go to a podiatrist
Ask her if she thinks it got irritated by wearing a particular type of shoe she has, and before going to the doctor, she could wear only the most comfortable athletic shoes she has with a good soft pair of socks. I shouldn't give medical advice, since I'm not a doctor, but if it were me, I'd lance the infection with a sterilized pin and drain the pus from the wound. Next, I'd fill up a plastic tub with some good hot water and soak the foot in it while watching a good TV show. Then I'd dry my foot and swath the wound liberally with a peroxide soaked cotton ball. To add a little color, put some iodine on for good measure. Finally, I'd put a new bandaid on it every day after cleaning the wound well each time and I'd wear those nice soft socks and athletic shoes until I could limp into my doctor's office to make sure it's not something serious.
If there is puss in there i would definitally try to open it get the puss out, There might be something embeded in her skin, have her get a sewing needle and a pair of tweezers, tell her to sterilize them in alcohol set to dry. rub alchol over area, then right on top of the blister poke it with a needle, slightly squeese, oh make sure you have a tussue or something.. keep sqeezing untill you think you got the most of the fluid out, the pressure from the fluid can be very uncomfortable and it might feel alot better just by doing this, after all the fluid is out, check to see if there is anything stuck in the skin, put peroxide in the wound. more then likely it wont hurt at all, peroxide will disinfect with out the sting of alcohol and it can "bubble out" anything in the skin. after that i would use a good triple antibiotic and bandage well!! You dont want the bacteria thats on the foot to get into the open wound. At any rate after a day or two it should start to heal up, if it looks like more puss is coming back check to see if what was causeing the infection (peice of glass or wood) is visible, i would do this for a few days making sure you change the bandage at night and in the morning. If it looks like its just getting worse. the area is getting bigger or the area starts to feel more "fevered" then go to a doctor.. there is a possiblity that your dealing with a spider bite also, if thats the case do as i said before BUT keep your eye on it more closely, and you definitally want to break the skin and sqeeze out the spider Venum. It cant really heal untill all of that is out, its hard to know whats really going on, but i would guess its one of the two by your discription. If it doesnt show signs of improving here in the next 3 or 4 days, I would call a doctor.
