anyone know anything about "hienial hernia"?

Question:

Answers:
It is indeed called a hiatal hernia. This is similar to other hernias that can occur in the body, it stems from a weakness in tissues. In this case the weakness is where the esophagus, or food tube, passes through the diaphragm or the large band of muscle that we use to breathe with. The weakness causes part of the stomach to actually protrude through the diaphragm into the thoracic cavity. The result of this is usually a bad case of GERD, or chronic heartburn. It is easily diagnosed with an X-ray and barium swallow or an endoscopy can be performed. In mild cases it can be treated as one would treat any case of GERD, with diet, weight loss and meds like Nexium or prevacid. If it is very large then surgery if often performed. I hope this helps explain this condition, it is actually fairly common.

Other Answers:
Perhaps you mean hiatal hernia. It's when your stomach protrudes into your chest cavity.
