why do most doctors lack a bedside manner?

Question:

Answers:
Any one or more of the following:

1 ) Sympathy
~ True physicians tend to have empathic and sympathetic bonds with their patients and some of their patients' ailments may 'rub off' on them.

2 ) Patient Load
~ Internal complications, such as licensing, permits, insurance, and other overheads, have increased greatly over the years, meaning that a doctor can no longer spend as much time as they would like with any one patient.

3 ) Off Days
~ Everyone has off days, when they're not as cheerful and sunny as they normally are. Though with a stressful profession such as doctors, it tends to happen more often than elsewhere. Every doctor knows that even the slightest mistake can cost a patient their life; that's a LOT of stress!

Other Answers:
because they think you are a pain in the butt

Imagine having to deal with all the pain and suffering day in and day out. I think they develop a shell to keep their sanity. Everyone they meet is sick or in pain. Do you ever see your doctor when you're feeling great with no problems?

i have never met one that lacks a bedside manner. Perhaps you don't ask the appropriate questions and he gets annoyed.

A doctor once told me that many patieents do not know how to articulate their reason for the visit to the doctor.

Because they are cocksuckers who make too much money. If you had to deal with bitchy people all day, go to school for half your life, and not get to spend your money only to be thanked by a medical malpractice suit, you would be an asshole too..

Bedside manner? Doctors can't get emotionally involved with their patients. Can you imagine the warped up emotional wreck someone would be if they got emotionally connected to their patients? Sure a polite courteous doctor isn't too much to ask for especially for the prices they charge, but I wouldn't expect too much more. I say leave the bedside manner to the nurses they are the ones that attend to patients more anyway.

they are arrogant, they usually care about money and they see u as a object not a person. of course there are great doctors that think otherwise..
