What is OPD?

Question:
I heard someone say their nephew had addhd an opd? I have never heard of it. What is it?

Answers:
I think you mean ODD. Oppositional Defiant Disorder (also known as ODD) is often comorbid (meaning co-diagnosed) in individuals with ADHD. Oppositional Defiant Disorder is characterized by a tendency to be disobedient/have significant conflicts with authority, anger/aggression when wants or desires are not met, and a pattern of fighting or other rule-breaking.

Official criteria are:
A pattern of negativistic, hostile, and defiant behavior lasting at least 6 months, during which four (or more) of the following are present:
- often loses temper
- often argues with adults
- often actively defies or refuses to comply with adults' requests or rules
- often deliberately annoys people
- often blames others for his or her mistakes or misbehavior
- is often touchy or easily annoyed by others
- is often angry and resentful
- is often spiteful or vindictive

Other Answers:
You probably misheard. OCD is obsessional compulsive disorder. Symptoms can range from repetitive checking of locks before going to bed to refusing to step on cracks on sidewalks etc. If you saw the movie with Jack Nickolaus "As good as it gets", he portrayed someone with severe OCD. It is treatable with certain types of antidepressants.

they probably meant ocd obsessive compulsive disorder. There is such a thing as opd it is otopalatodigital syndrome but it is a very rare disease and not likely what the nephew has
