what causes receding gum line and how can it be avoided or even reversed?

Question:

Answers:
Go to a good periodontist. Gingivitis is one reason you may have receding gums. A periodontist can do something called root planing or scaling, and it cleans out all the plaque and tartar below the gumline. It can tighten up your gums. The periodontist may also put you on an antibiotic to keep bacteria from regenerating. Sometimes brushing and flossing just isn't enough if you have a gum disease.

Other Answers:
I'm not sure what causes them to recede. But I know that brushing your gums can help stop them and help them come back healthy.

You cant reverse receeded gums but you can prevent them from getting worse. It depends what has caused it. If you brush too hard, you need to change your brushing technique and use a soft brush. You need to visit a dentist/ hygienist so that they can show you a good technique. If it's because you have unhealthy gums that bleed when you brush, again, you need to see a professional to work out a personal plan to get your gums healthy again.

i have a recedig gumline and it has exposed some of the nerves on my teeth. very painful! it's caused by overbrushing, when you brush your teeth too hard. ppl tend to do it too vigourously and incorrectly so look into proper brushing techniques. also, i drink a lot of coke, i'm like an addict! it is sooo bad for your teeth. anything with sugar eats away at your gums and causes them to receed even more. there's nothing you can do to bring the gums back, instead your dentist will probably apply a coating of some stuff to protect the nerves.
