I went on the rice diet two years ago. I got a book from the library, the author was a woman, but I am sure you can find it at amazon.com. The first 2-3 weeks are harsh. You basically eat rice and fruit for the first phase. No sodium or other spices allowed. You have the choice to put either lemon juice and/or splenda on your rice. Later you can add fruits and vegetables, and finally meats.

I was on the diet for about a month. I lost a lot of weight, but I began to crave basic foods like vegetables and anything with flavor. I recommend this diet more as quick way to lose weight, but not necessarily as a long term diet. The main thing for the rice diet is to stay away from sodium. Hope that helps.
