I have been diagnosed with Epstein-Barr Virus. I also have low WBC and Platlets. Could this be cancer?

Question:

Answers:
That virus is linked to mono. Low counts can also be linkled to having an infection such as mono. Do the doctors think that you have the virus but not mono? According to statistics, "as many as 95% of adults between 35 and 40 years of age have been infected with the EB virus" before, and 35 to 50 percent percent get mono from it. Now, there has also been studies that suggest a link between Hodgkins lymphoma (a cancer) and the EB virus, but Hodgkins is pretty rare and I wouldn't assume that you have it just because you have low counts and the EB virus. If you are concerned about Hodgkins, just talk to a doctor. He/she can check you out for symptoms.
