what is an endomeitrioma and what do they do to get rid of it ?
Question:
Answers:
Endometriomas are also known as "chocolate cysts." They occur in women and girls with Endometriosis (see www.endocenter.org); most commonly on the ovaries. There have, however, been detailed cases of endometriomas on the bladder wall and other pelvic locations in patients with severe or advanced Endometriosis.
For the purposes of this question, I'll assume you mean an ovarian endometrioma, which commonly occurs in those with Endo who have ovarian involvement of the disease (which a large percentage do).
Endometriomas contain blood and endometrial debris, and can grow quite large (and be exquisitely painful). They can also cause infertility, spontaneously rupture, and/or even "leak," and should be definitively treated.
Extensive studies show that ovarian endometriomas do *not* respond well to medical treatment with hormonal suppression, and diagnosis is not considered absolute until the cyst is dissected and sent to pathology (a good, true Endo surgeon will know it upon visualization through the lap scope, of course). For optimum diagnosis and treatment, surgery like the laparoscopy is recommended.
The cyst - or cysts - can be removed and effectively treated through laparoscopic excision, but it is best to undergo the surgery with a surgeon who truly understands Endometriosis and can offer the best treatment, thereby conferring the longest possbible relief time. For example, see www.centerforendo.com.
For information on Endo and/or laparoscopic surgery, see www.endocenter.org and request their free surgical manual.
Good luck.

It's tumor like endometral cells. Lets back up.Endometriosis is the condition in which endometrail tissue which is the tissue that lives the uterus grows in areas of the pelvic cavity outside the uterus. They may invade areas like the ovaries bladder appendix, fallopian tubes intestial tract, or the supportive structure of the uterus. The external endo tissue might look like blisters or solid nodules or cysts which may be 4 or more inches in diameter.
This kind of tissue caused problems with the menstrual cycle or constant pain for a few days after ovulation. The symptoms stop after cycle. effects might include dyspareunia, rectal bleeding, backache and pain in pelvic area. infertility is associated with this condition. If you haven't had kids you better now if you want to.
Treatments are hormone meds and surgery to remove the lesions of endo or the organ involved.
If your saying endomeitrioma that is a cyst..
Usually surgery will take care of the problem or hysterectomy. But of course if you have cyst there in your blood stream which can cause them to come in other places after also if your your saying osis that is a different situation ,but from what I'm reading your saying endomeitrioma.
