He may be nervous or trying something different to get your attention! I am not a dude but I always hear that it takes alot for some guys to ask a girl out. Take it as a compliment.. he may think you've had every "come on" line in the book and he wants to stand out. Give the boy a chance!

He may be shy or insecure and that's where the "lamest" excuse to ask you out came from.
If you think he's cute, and you haven't heard he mistreats the ladies, then go for it. The most you can lose is a little time, since if the date is that bad, you can walk away.
Don't count his excuse for asking you out against him. He might just think you're the so fine that he's intimidated!
After all, you can't expect guys to come up with the great lines we'd use to ask them out ;-}! (I'm just glad we don't have to do the asking - the worries of being shot down would have me using lame excuses, too! To tell you the truth, I'd be more concerned if he had TOO many smooth lines.
